1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using GitSnitch (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms apply to all users, including individuals and organizations.

2. Description of Service

GitSnitch is a GitHub security monitoring service that connects to your GitHub organization via a GitHub App installation. It monitors security-relevant events — such as admin changes, branch protection modifications, force pushes, and secret exposure — and delivers alerts via the GitSnitch dashboard, email, and third-party integrations.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and have the authority to bind the GitHub organization you connect to GitSnitch. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements and that your use complies with all applicable laws.

4. GitHub App Authorization

The Service requires installation of the GitSnitch GitHub App on your GitHub organization. By installing the App, you grant GitSnitch read access to the repository and organization events specified in the App's permissions. You may revoke this access at any time by uninstalling the App from your GitHub organization settings. Uninstalling the App does not automatically delete your GitSnitch account or stored data.

5. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at support@gitsnitch.com if you suspect unauthorized access. GitSnitch is not liable for losses caused by unauthorized use of your account.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service to monitor individuals without their knowledge or legal authorization
Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the Service
Use automated tools to scrape, overload, or abuse the Service's APIs
Resell or sublicense access to the Service without written permission
Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation

7. Subscription and Billing

GitSnitch offers a free plan and paid subscription plans. Paid plans are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis through Stripe or GitHub Marketplace. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you will not receive a prorated refund for unused time unless required by law.

8. Free Plan Limitations

The free plan provides access to alerts from the past 7 days and excludes certain forensic metadata fields. GitSnitch reserves the right to modify free plan limits at any time with reasonable notice.

9. Intellectual Property

All rights, title, and interest in and to the Service — including software, design, logos, and documentation — remain exclusively with GitSnitch. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights. You retain all rights to your organization's data; you grant GitSnitch a limited license to process that data solely to provide the Service.

10. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

11. Service Availability

GitSnitch strives for high availability but does not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or suspend the Service for reasons including security incidents or force majeure events. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of planned downtime.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. GITSNITCH DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL DETECT ALL SECURITY EVENTS OR PREVENT ALL SECURITY INCIDENTS.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GITSNITCH SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, fail to pay applicable fees, or if required by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. We will retain your data for a reasonable period to allow you to export it before deletion.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice within the Service at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware.
